Denyse Henry

RN, BHA (Hons), MHM

Chief Executive Officer

Denyse Henry, RN, BHA (Hons), MHM, MScN is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Association of Ambulatory Care (CAAC). With over 26 years of experience in healthcare, her career spans Critical Care Nursing, Patient Advocacy, Healthcare Operations, and Nursing Leadership.

Ms. Henry currently works as Director of Operations, for the Integrated Surgical Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where she leads strategic and operational excellence across surgical and related programs. She also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto.

Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Health Administration with Honours from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), a Master of Health Management (MHM) from McMaster University, a Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) with a focus on leadership and adult education from York University, and Executive Education from the Ivey Business School (2023–2024).

Ms. Henry is a published author in the Canadian Health Policy Journal and has served on Program Advisory Committees at Seneca College and Toronto Metropolitan University. She is also the Founder and CEO of Integrated Healthcare Consulting, providing management consulting services to healthcare organizations.

As a leader, she is constantly seeking creative ways to foster a dynamic learning environment to promote high quality patient care and continuous quality improvement. Through the CAAC, Ms. Henry remains committed to advancing ambulatory care across Canada by fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary network of healthcare professionals dedicated to best practices in outpatient care.

Sherrol Palmer

BScN RN, (Retired)

President

Sherrol is retired having been a Certified Oncology Nurse and Manager at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for over 30 years. Sherrol has been an active member of CAAC for many years and is currently its President. She has given numerous presentations locally, nationally and internationally on issues related to quality improvement and leadership, as well as chemotherapy administration and patient care.
Sherrol is a 2020 “100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women” award recipient.

Julia Young

RN

Vice President, Finance

Julia has worked as a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years.  Her career in surgical oncology has spanned over 20 years which includes her former role as a Team Leader for a busy and fast paced Endoscopy Suite at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Julia has furthered her education in several oncology courses, Coronary Care 1 and Advance Cardiac Life Support. Julia is a strong advocate for ambulatory care practices and has been a Board Member of the CAAC since it was formed in 2012.

Ashley Hogan

About Ashley

Ashley is a Masters educated RN at TeamLHSC where she currently leads the Ambulatory Medicine and Surgical Services at University Hospital as Director. She graduated from St Clair College/University of Windsor with a BScN degree, and from York University with a MScN with a focus on leadership and adult education principles.

She is passionate about improving patient care experiences, access, and quality and  endeavors to be a supportive leader that is visible and engaging.

Jiao Jiang

Vice President, Education

Jiao Jiang is working as a Nurse Practitioner at Pre-admission clinic, Sunnybrook Health Science Center. Prior to that, Jiao was working as a Nurse Practitioner for the Acute Pain Service at University Health Network. Jiao graduate as the first cohort of Nurse Practitioner in Anesthesia Care in 2009 and taught the 2nd cohort of Nurse Practitioner in Anesthesia Care in 2012.

Jing Zhou

RN, BScN, MScN

Vice President, Membership

Jing is currently an Academic Manager in the School of Nursing at a post-secondary institution. She brings more than nine years of progressive leadership experience gained through a variety of roles at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Her clinical background spans multiple healthcare settings, including ambulatory care, community care, acute care, and rehabilitation.

Jing holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) and a Master of Nursing in Management and Education from York University. She is a strong advocate for patients and the nursing profession and is passionate about education, person-centred care, and quality improvement.

Having served on the CAAC Board for the past 10 years, Jing is committed to continuing her contributions to healthcare transformation pertaining to more focus on ambulatory care and community.

Sameera Khatib

Vice President, Membership (Interim)

Sameera Khatib brings more than 25 years of progressive leadership and
clinical experience in the field of Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging. She
currently serves as Team Leader of the Women & Babies Ultrasound
Department at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where she has played
a pivotal role in advancing high-quality maternal and fetal care services.
Sameera holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration from Toronto
Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and a Postgraduate
Advanced Diploma in Ultrasound from The Michener Institute of Education
at UHN. She strongly believes in patient-centered care and works hard to
promote strong collaboration across fields and open communication
between patients and healthcare providers. In a comprehensive and holistic
healthcare model, Sameera strongly backs the Ontario Ministry of Health's
strategic direction to combine community services and ambulatory care.

ELLIE LEE

BA

Vice President, Sponsorship and Special Projects

Ellie Lee is the Business Manager of OR & Related Services at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Her department OR Information Management Services (ORIMS), is comprised of system architects, developers, data analysts and front line patient administrators. As a group they are tasked with system development, process improvement and advancing the quality of care and services provided to patients and families within the Operating Room & Related Services. Her demonstrated ability to lead a variety of technical and non-technical staff through advanced technology and design makes her the ideal candidate for Vice President of Web Design and Publications. Ellie has contributed to a variety of fields at Sunnybrook within the last 30 years, and looks forward to contributing her expertise to CAAC.

Ashley Hendry

Vice President

Ashley Hendry is an experienced healthcare leader with over 15 years of experience managing clinical programs, leading multidisciplinary teams, and improving patient care across hospital and community settings. She has a strong background in ambulatory care, cancer services, public health, and health promotion, with expertise in operations, program development, quality improvement, and strategic planning. Ashley is known for building strong relationships with healthcare partners, supporting teams through change, and leading complex initiatives such as COVID-19 assessment and vaccination clinics, regional cancer screening programs, and specialized outpatient services. She is passionate about improving access to care, creating efficient patient-centered services, and delivering meaningful results for patients and communities.

Meng Guangxia

Vice President, Membership

Guangxia Meng, MN, PhD, NP, is a Nurse Practitioner working in Stroke Prevention and Ambulatory Care at Southlake Health. She has worked in ambulatory care settings since 2014 and is passionate about improving patient access, quality of care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Guangxia holds a Master’s degree in Nursing and a PhD in Public Health, with interests in digital health, virtual care, stroke prevention, geriatric care, and health services quality research. She has presented at Canadian Association of Ambulatory Care conferences and is committed to supporting member engagement, professional development, and the advancement of ambulatory care across Canada in her role as Vice President, Membership.
